This policy covers the iPhone and iPad version of Khmer Calendar. The Android version has its own policy, because the two platforms handle advertising identifiers differently.

1. Overview

Khmer Calendar is a traditional Khmer lunar calendar app. We built it to be simple, private, and offline-first. This policy explains exactly what data we access, why, and how it is handled.

Short version: We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data ourselves. All your settings, notes and anniversaries are stored locally on your device, and the only optional data you ever send us directly is the feedback message you choose to write. The app does show banner ads through Google AdMob, but it never asks to track you and never uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) — every ad request is marked non-personalized. See Section 8.

2. Permissions & Why We Need Them

iOS asks for each of these the first time it is needed. Every one of them is optional — the calendar itself works without granting any.

Permission Why it is needed
Calendars Reads events from your device calendar so they can be displayed alongside Khmer lunar dates. This data is read on your device and never leaves it. Decline it and the rest of the app is unaffected.
Notifications Delivers local on-device reminders for Sila days, public holidays, festivals and the daily Rasei. These are scheduled and delivered entirely by your device — no server is involved and no push notifications are used.
Photos Only if you choose your own calendar background. The photo you pick is copied into the app's own storage; the app does not browse, read or upload your photo library.

The app does not request Location, Contacts, Microphone, Camera, Health, or App Tracking Transparency permission.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following is stored locally only, in the app's own container and its App Group (so the Home Screen widget can read your settings), and is never transmitted:

Deleting the app removes all of it. None of it is backed up to any server of ours; it is included in your own iCloud or iTunes device backup only if you have that enabled, and those backups are controlled entirely by Apple and by you.

4. Network Requests

The app is offline-first. Every request below is optional, made only when the relevant feature is used, and always over HTTPS.

Feature Destination Data Sent Personal?
Feedback form api.telegram.org Name (optional), contact (optional), message text Optional
Gold price query1.finance.yahoo.com None — read-only public data request None
Exchange rate data.mef.gov.kh (National Bank of Cambodia) None — read-only public data request None
Holiday & settings updates raw.githubusercontent.com None — read-only public file request None
Banner ads Google AdMob Non-personalized ad request — no advertising identifier None

No IP address, device identifier, or personal information is deliberately included in the gold price, exchange rate or holiday update requests. As with any internet request, the destination server necessarily sees the connecting IP address; we neither receive nor store it.

5. Feedback Data

The in-app feedback form is entirely optional. If you use it:

6. Device Calendar Access

With your permission, the app reads events from your device's calendar to display them alongside Khmer dates. This data is read locally and is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared. The app does not create, modify or delete your calendar events.

7. Photos

If you set your own calendar background, the single image you pick is copied into the app's private storage so it survives a restart. The app requests no ongoing access to your photo library, does not read any other image, and never uploads the one you chose.

8. Advertising & Analytics

Contains Ads Non-Personalized Only No Advertising ID (IDFA) No Tracking Prompt No Analytics SDK No Crash Reporting

This app shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. Unlike the Android version, the iOS version does not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps or websites:

9. Children's Privacy

Khmer Calendar is a general-purpose calendar app suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

10. Data Security

All network communication (feedback, gold price, exchange rate, holiday updates, ads) is performed over HTTPS. We operate no server and no database: there is no account to breach and no personal data of yours stored anywhere outside your own device.

11. Your Rights

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The latest version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
